Aloha, I'm John
Life is full of unique circumstances that can either cause us pain or help us to grow or as some might say “it’ll either make you or break you”. Counseling is a way for people to explore their lives and to create meaning in a way that helps them to grow and to reach their full potential. Therapy can be difficult and painful at times and that is what motivates me to connect with you on your level so that you feel that you are not walking that path alone. I believe that therapeutic interventions are only as effective as the counseling relationship and that the client can benefit significantly when the coach and the client are able to build an alliance based on trust. By bridging that gap, I am able to deploy therapeutic approaches such as, experiential, client-centered, and cognitive-behavioral.
I was born and raised on the island of Kauaʻi in Hawaii. I received my Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology from Grand Canyon University in 2020. Since 2015, I have worked with adolescents in public schools as a substance abuse treatment counselor. I also did private practice in Hawaii for the past year where I had the pleasure of working with families, adolescents, and adults. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas, supervised by Julia Ayraud, LPC-S.
