Hi! My name is Shari
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. While serving as an elementary educator, I attended Lamar University, completing my Masters of Education in Counseling and Development. During my time as a student therapist, I provided therapy services to children, teens, and adults. I appreciate diversity, welcoming each client’s beliefs, uniqueness, and strengths. I have a passion for learning, believing personal and professional growth is endless. The counseling theory I care for most is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. A quote for reflection…
“I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination” -Jimmy Dean.
Ever get tired of playing tug of war with your thoughts and feelings? Most often, the internal struggles faced appear even stronger when efforts are taken to try and control them. Much like the direction of the wind, are the challenges faced. Although the direction of the wind is outside one’s circle of control, efforts can be taken to see one’s situation from a different perspective, much like changing the sails. Like a journey sailing in the ocean, therapy provides the opportunity to have a different relationship with these internal struggles, gaining new perspective to challenges, and reaching mental health goals.
My goal is to provide a warm, accepting, and confidential environment where your thoughts, feelings, and experiences are heard. As we sail through the ocean tides together, I strive to provide ongoing empowerment and support, fostering the exploration of your values and experiences, supporting you as you take value-based actions. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate supervised by Diana Kurtz, LPC-S. I look forward to working with you!
