We offer therapy for preteens and therapy for teens. 

Being an adolescent is hard; you are trying to find out who you are, trying to fit in, trying to listen to your parents, and trying to be yourself. You might be feeling overwhelmed and misunderstood. Maybe you have heard about therapy before and are wondering if it is for you and if it can help you. Therapy can help you learn healthy coping skills, improve communication skills so that others are more likely to listen to you, and most importantly therapy can be a safe space for you to be yourself. 

We work with adolescents struggling with low self-esteem, stress, depression, anxiety, behavior issues, and life transitions and changes. Below is a chart with some feelings and symptoms you may be experiencing:

LOW SELF-ESTEEM-worthlessness
-feelings of not being good enough
-lack of self-confidence
STRESS-constant tension
-feeling pressure from parents, school, and friends
-upset stomach
-hives or rashes
DEPRESSION-feelings of sadness
-feelings of loneliness
-changes in sleep
-changes in appetite
ANXIETY-constant worry
-can't "shut off" your brain
-difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
-lack of concentration
BEHAVIOR ISSUES-feeling misunderstood
-feelings of carelessness
-acting out at school or at home
-easily annoyed
-questioning authority 

If you are experiencing any of the feelings or symptoms above, it might be time to seek therapy. Things that can lead to the above uncomfortable feelings can be:

  • being bullied or mistreated
  • parents getting a divorce
  • moving
  • homework and tests
  • boyfriend/girlfriend
  • peer pressure
  • being too busy with school, after school activities, and social activities
  • family problems
