Therapy for Teens
When It Feels Like No One Really Understands You

The teenage years can bring intense emotions, growing expectations, changing relationships, and pressure from school, friendships, family, and yourself. It can be difficult to understand what you’re feeling, much less explain it to someone else. At home, this can lead to arguments, disconnection, or feeling like parents and teens are trying to communicate but aren’t really understanding each other.

Therapy That Builds Skills for Life
Adolescence is an important time to strengthen the foundation for emotional well-being and healthy relationships.
Understand What You’re Feeling
Teen therapy creates an opportunity to better understand emotions and learn healthier ways to respond to them. We work on emotional regulation, coping and problem-solving skills, and assertive communication to help teens express what they feel and need. Sessions may also include activities or games that make learning and practicing these skills more natural and engaging.
Experience a Holistic Approach
At Calderas Counseling, we believe teens can make greater progress when parents are appropriately involved in treatment. A parent joins the teen at the beginning of the first session and returns at the end to discuss the treatment plan, expectations, and next steps. Parent or family sessions may also be incorporated throughout therapy to strengthen progress, communication, and connection at home.
