Hi! My name is Johana
Seeking support takes courage, and you’ve already begun that process!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate supervised by Michelle Temofonte, M.A., LPC-S, and a Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s graduate from Houston Christian University. I have lived in Houston most of my life and have also spent time in Colorado, which I consider a second home and a place that has contributed to my personal growth and perspective. I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan and supporting clients with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I also provide services in both English and Spanish.
I utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness-based techniques. These approaches allow me to tailor treatment to each client’s needs while supporting emotional regulation, insight, and long-term healing.
My passion for counseling is rooted in early experiences that highlighted the importance of having a safe space to process emotions and challenges, something I now strive to provide for each of my clients. I approach counseling from a client-centered and collaborative perspective, recognizing that each individual’s story is unique. I am committed to creating a space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered as they work toward greater self-awareness and meaningful change.
Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time with my four dogs, reading thriller novels, and connecting with family and friends. I also enjoy exploring new food spots (especially for sweet treats) and caring for my growing collection of plants.
