I am thrilled to be working with such an amazing team at Caldera’s Counseling. I can’t wait to meet you! Here is a little about me.
When I was young, I struggled with fitting in and with my self-esteem. I was an average student, not good at math, but I was a strong reader. Over time, I realized that I love learning and I love family. I have a deep curiosity about human behavior, the mind, relationships, patterns, growth, and spirit. I have always looked for the good in people which sometimes led me down some painful roads, but life is all about the choices we make and what we can learn from them.
I’ve been heartbroken more than once. I’ve been in toxic relationships, had some questionable friendships, married, separated, divorced, and basically had this feeling of having to start over on more than one occasion in my life.
Pain is a beautiful and profound teacher, but it always leads to growth and change if you allow yourself grace, patience, and love.
My education, career, family, and friends have helped develop me into the person I am today. I started my road to who I am with going back to school and getting my degree. I was lost for a few years and one day I had a dream and imagined myself walking across a large stage and receiving my diploma. I finally achieved that vision when I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a teacher certification for Early Childhood-6th grade. I was a teacher for a total of 8 years teaching 3rd and 5th grade students. Those memories shaped my love for today’s youth and I knew that I wanted to help support families in other ways outside of the classroom. After my separation and divorce, I knew I wanted to pursue counseling and I had a new dream, to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. Two years later, through COVID, healing, traveling, and self-growth, I graduated with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I said goodbye to teaching and stepped into my new role of being a therapist. It’s crazy that after everything, I feel like I am finally in the place I am meant to be.
Though my journey wasn’t easy, I never gave up on myself, and I continue to work hard, make mistakes, dust myself off, and keep going. Life is challenging and I hope that I can support you. I will be in your corner, your biggest advocate, cheering you along as you take those small steps that lead to change, healing, and personal growth.
