Team Member Spotlight-Savannah

Hi!

I hope you are having a great Friday. This week we are featuring Savannah. She is a great therapist who enjoys working with teens, adults, and couples. Words that describe Savannah are: hard-working, trustworthy, committed, and optimistic.

What we love about her: her commitment to her work and her clients. Savannah is also a joy to work with, she is a team player, and she is a trooper (she has been with our company the longest and we are so happy she is part of our team).

Enjoy her answers:

Why do you love being a part of CC?

I love the encouragement that we all provide to one another. It makes the tough days easier and it's a great feeling to know the people I work with always have my back.

What do you enjoy most about your work with clients?

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a therapist is having a client come in for a session and be filled with so much excitement and pride as the client tells me about a win he/she/they had since the last session. Whether it's taking a small step towards their goal or completely crushing their goal, we always take the time to celebrate their accomplishment.

What challenged you this week? Could you have handled it differently?

I sometimes find it challenging to be emotionally strong while a client discloses difficult experiences. I think sometimes therapists are expected to be so objective that it is forgotten that we too are emotional beings that care deeply about our clients. I find it best to be my most authentic self with clients, just as I expect the same from my clients. This means showing vulnerability in difficult moments while also providing deep understanding, unconditional positive regard, and acceptance.

What three things do you need to succeed for the week?

  • Sleep is my number one need for functioning. If I don't get at least some restful sleep, I am an absolute mess.

  • The second thing I need is time outside, which is more than likely walking with my son, husband, and two dogs. Getting some fresh air, sun, and being present during the walk brings me so much joy. It's medicine for my soul.

  • Lastly, I need coffee. Coffee may help me feel more energized but it's also a vibe. It's the hot cup of joe that warms my soul and makes me feel like I can do whatever it is I need to accomplish that day.

Who inspires you?

My mom and stepmom inspire me with their unconditional love, support, and dedication. I recently became a mom, and the encouragement, advice, support, and love that they have both continued to give me as I navigate my new role as a mother, wife, and therapist has been absolutely wonderful. Motherhood is a never-ending journey and I am incredibly grateful to have two amazing women to look up to.

I hope you enjoyed her answers. If you are ready for therapy, Savannah is here to empower, encourage, and walk alongside you. Have a wonderful week!

Carla
